Van Vest-Hoff-Vannatta Farmstead

This remarkably intact farmstead offers a clear window into rural life in northwest New Jersey during the 18th and 19th centuries. Listed on both the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places in 2005, the property was recognized for its well-preserved architecture and its reflection of historic agricultural practices. In 2013, it received a New Jersey State Historic Preservation Award, further underscoring its significance. The property is open to explore with the buildings open for various events throughout the year.

As one of the region’s larger historic farmsteads, the site reflects a period of prosperity and careful stewardship, offering visitors insight into how land, work, and success shaped the rural NJ Highlands landscape over generations.
