Garrett D. Wall Park

Garrett D. Wall Park is a four-acre town square at the heart of Belvidere and one of Warren County’s earliest public spaces. Established in the 1820s, the park reflects the vision of its namesake, Garrett D. Wall, an attorney, judge, and U.S. senator, who donated the land with the intention that it remain a public square for community use in perpetuity. His contribution helped secure Belvidere’s role as the county seat and shaped the town’s early development.

Shaded by mature trees and framed by historic buildings, the park sits directly in front of the Warren County Courthouse, first constructed in 1826 and still overlooking the square today. Once the site of major civic events, the space still comes alive during local events, like Belvidere’s annual Victorian Days, and is perfect every day for strolling, picnicking, and taking in the town’s Victorian-era character.

The park is also home to meaningful memorials, including the Warren County War Memorial and the Purple Heart Memorial, which honor local service members and their sacrifices.
