Perched atop Garret Mountain overlooking Paterson, Lambert Castle, often called simply “The Castle”, is one of northern New Jersey’s most recognizable landmarks. Built in the 1890s by silk industrialist Catholina Lambert, the English-style castle once served as his private residence and welcomed prominent guests of the era, including President McKinley.
Today, Lambert Castle Museum invites visitors to explore period rooms furnished with original belongings, along with galleries showcasing folk art, local history, and rotating exhibitions. Spread across multiple floors, the museum offers both self-guided discovery and opportunities to learn more through docent-led insights all within a setting that blends history, architecture, and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
